This month, on the 20th, marks my boyfriend and I’s first date.  I debated posting anything here, but it’s an amusing story, and I know he reads this occasionally and wouldn’t object, so why not.

So back two years ago (close your eyes and remember the summer of 2006, Nelly Furtado’s Promiscuous girl or Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy playing on the radio)…  Yeah, so we were both working on this big engineering project.  We were innocently showing interest in each other. A date or some kind of interaction in the near future teased at both of us.

The problem?  We were working ALL the time.  This project was in “crunch time” and we (along with many others) were working LONG freaking hours.  The opportunity to go have a nice anything seemed out of the question right then.

So what’s a guy to do?  Well D asks me to out with him after work, just to talk.  This is the first time he voiced this interest, so we were both excited.  The catch — it’s 2 a.m.   We don’t let that stop us and so head to the closest place we know will be open, a bar called Green Iguana, a popular tiki hut type restaurant and bar.

Approaching, the place looks busy.  Okay.  We get to the door.  The place is literally swamped with people.  Latino people.  It’s Latino night.  Okay, could be ok right?

It’s not alright.

At least not for us.  This place is completely jammed.  There were three different DJ’s in the 3 parts of the bar, and D and I find ourselves in a loud ocean of dancing people. Everyone is about 6 inches shorter than me (so about 1+ feet shorter than D) which only adds more bizarre to our senses. It honestly looks like an awesome time (for everyone else). tee hee.

We both agree to get out of there, both equally relieved that the other is feeling the same way.

So we see a Starbucks.  We walk across the parking lot to it.  There is a milk truck there.

We end up spending the next couple of hours sitting at the patio, just talking (without coffee since it’s closed).  The milk delivery man and a bar full of Latinos and us, and it was a really awesome date.
